Our little bungalow
When we were planning our trip to Costa Rica and checking out the map, we said "look how close we will be to Nicaragua!" And of course, we can't pass up checking off another country on our list. So after an hour in a taxi, a couple of long lines and paying too much in "taxes", we walked across the border into Nicaragua. We took another taxi to Granada and up a winding, bumpy road until we made it our lodge on the Mombacho Volcano. No wi-fi, in the jungle, big spiders and lots of monkeys!

The lodge and the restaurant - meals were local dishes (whatever the chef was serving!)
Mosquito netting - needed for the mosquitoes AND the big spiders that might drop from the ceiling!!
Jungle hikes
We found a bamboo forest, so making a bamboo machete was a must!
Thank goodness for signs to help us find our way back
Touring the coffee plantation on the volcano... and working hard!
Coffee beans drying in the sun
